Your Pets

Pets are your sidekicks in your adventure through Ether Saga Online. Every character starts out with a pet. Each race is assigned a different pet type. At level 15 you can begin collecting new pets by capturing them. You can also obtain pets through purchase, quests and events. Some pets received by questing are rare and cannot be found in the wild.

Pet Stats

Your pet has stats much like your own with a few additions. Pet rank is the overall sum of the your pets abilities. Pets with a higher rank will have better stats and elemental affinity. Growth rate is the increase of stats, currently, per level up. Along with it's current stats it is affected by mood, which reflects how well you treat your pet. Hunger can put your pet in a bad mood and hinder its growth and exp.

Pet Training

At level 5 pets can begin to train themselves. Depending on its attitude it can learn skills from three categories: melee, elemental, and auxiliary. Also every pet has its own skill set.

You can aid your pets in their training with pet scrolls to teach them skills or amnision soup to have them forget them.

Pet Attitude and Combat

Your pet can have one of 4 attitudes: fierce, cautious, bright or normal. Fierce pets melee toe to toe while bright pets prefer to stand back and use ranged elemental attacks. Cautious pets focus on protecting their master by casting auxiliary blessings and curses. Normal pets are jacks of all trades but masters of none.

A pets belly effects the amount of damage a pets attack inflicts. Skills drain a pets belly meter. Mood determines bonus effects and the amount of exp gained.

Capturing Pets

Of the 9 monster families, currently only beastkin, humanoid, mechen and elementa can be captured.

To capture, target the monster you want. A yellow bag will appear, if it is tameable, in the right hand corner of their health bar. Once you engage the monster in battle and it has taken enough damage the bag icon will begin to blink. You can then use a net to attempt to capture it. Unfortunately the rate of capture is not 100% so several attempts may be necessary.

Once a pet is captured it appears in your inventory as a pink egg with a ribbon. At this point you can only see its nature, number of skills and pet rank. You can use items such as a mirror of true form to identify and view more stats including affinity ad fusion elements.

Pet Gear

Much like your character, pets can also be equipped with a single piece of gear. Pet gear can increase strength, intelligence, defense, resistance or health. Low grade gear can be purchased, however through the Petcraft Vocation better, higher grade, gear can be crafted.

Belly/Feeding Your Pet

Belly indicates your pets appetite. Belly affects the amount of damage it inflicts as well as its mood. The belly meter is drained by using skills.

Belly can be recovered by feeding your pet various foods or snacks. Food can be purchased from trappers and chefs while snacks are generally dropped by monsters.
